Fly Them

Lifestyle and health are two subjects that seem to have the entire first world wrapped around them. Vigorously, we try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and will read just about anything that aids us in our search. Today's blog feature is on such a blog, named Fly Them.

Here is a sample from the blog's post on 5 easy rules for a healthy diet:

"1. You have to eat breakfast because your body needs the energy to make it through the day. Maybe not bacon and eggs, yes?

2.
Split your meals so you eat more often but smaller portions. I don't know who thought of this three meals a day rule, you can do 5 smaller ones, no problem.

3.
As I said before, what they sell us today in our supermarkets is mostly made of fat and sugar. Cut it. Indulge in moderation. You don't need to drink a bottle of coke each day, but you can drink it on special occasions and it will taste even better.

4.
Vegetables and fruits are your best friend. Meat is also good as long as it has a low fat-percentage, like chicken and turkey.

5.
Cooking is fun. If you don't like it, you need to find a way to make it fun. It's the only way to get away from fastfood and pizza delivery."

People Are Idiots

Stupid people are... well, stupid. That's pretty much the message preached at "People are Idiots," a blog for fun little stories about all of the crazy people out there in the world do their crazy stuff. Now, everyone can have a laugh at someone else's expense, in blog form!

Here's a little piece of the People are Idiots blog:

"So eventually, after over an hour of waiting, it was my turn. Normally this is where I would end this blog post, but today was a very very special day. I went in and saw the Doc. I informed him I had the blood test done last Saturday and was here to get the results. He looked through my chart and asked Are you sure you had it done? As a little piece of me died inside, I confirmed that yes, I did it. The results weren't there so he'd have someone contact the lab. 35 minutes later he returned with the results. Which were almost perfect. And almost two hours after I got there I was finally able to go. What a great day indeed."

What can you say? People are Idiots!

Geekologie: Revisited

I'm beginning to think that this blog might need to be renamed to something along the times of "Techblogographer," considering the frequency with which I feature technology and tech-related blogs! However, I think we can all appreciate a good tech blog, because after all, aren't we all on computers or phones and whatnot right now? :P

So, today I will be revisiting the hilarious blog Geekologie, which isn't exactly a tech blog, but it is a geek blog which features tons of gizmos and gadgets. There's also the occasional gorgeous fashion model for the purpose of... well, why not?! This blog was featured on Blogographer quite a long time ago, and it's time it's brought up again.

Here's a current sample from the blog's post about Harry Potter as an anime:

"Is this what Harry Potter would look like as anime? Yes. Even if it isn't let's just say it is because I've only written three lines about it and I'm already tired of arguing about it. So yeah, moving on. Ninja turtles: who's your favorite one? I like the one with the tits in the yellow jumpsuit. What's her name? "Donatello." Yes, her."

Great Surf Movies

A pretty crazy quote by a pretty crazy (in a good way) dude. This is the introduction on receives on the blog that is featured for today's Blogographer post. The blog is called Great Surf Movies, and it's a pretty self-explanatory blog -- it's about great surf movies!

Surf movies have begun to make more and more of the cinema, and have even apparently spawned their own genre to which there are awards and followers. I always knew surf movies were becoming more popular, but that they have their own genre? Nice going, surf movies. ;D

The blog is in decent shape, layout-wise. The banner isn't exactly perfect, but it's custom and it's good that he's got some sort of branding happening. Otherwise, it's not too cluttered, the background fits nicely, and the right-side widget with the surf movies tall poster is a nice touch.

Jalopnik

Technology isn't the only recurring theme on my blog, it would appear -- it seems that automobiles are making their way steadily to becoming a staple here on Blogographer. Today's post just further hammers the point, as the feature is on an incredibly popular automobile (and related) blog, well-known on the internet and in the automobile world.

That blog is Jalopnik, one of the infamous Gawker Media blogs. I recently blogged about another Gawker Media blog, known as Gizmodo. Sister blogs aside, Jalopnik has established itself as a powerful blog regardless of it's affiliations, covering up-to-date automobile news while still staying interesting. Here's an example of a post one might find there:

"Remember the playground bully? The kid twice your size who repeated first grade just so he could be larger and stronger? In the automotive world, that bully's name is Bugatti, and I just saw him back down from a fight with something even more menacing. 


I've had enough of Veyron this and the world's fastest car that. I'm over it. And so is John Hennessey. John has been shaking up the automotive playground since he first showed up years ago with his Hennessey Venom 1000 Twin Turbo, a 1,200-horsepower, V10 monster. Think 0-200 MPH in 20.2 seconds."
Anyone with a bit of car knowledge can tell that this Hennessey Venom is no car to be toyed with if it can scare the Bugatti Veyron even before it races. What's better? The writer of the article on the site was actually a passenger in the Venom when it terrified its legendary opponent. Talk about first-hand experience.

No One I Think Is In My Tree

UPDATE: I apologize that this post was late. It should have been Friday's post, instead of the new-blog spotlight, but I was busy with family. Normal posts on a normal schedule will be up on Monday.

Philosophy is an under-appreciated but phenomenally important area of intellectuality. Whether it comes down to the basic understanding of what is right and wrong, to the difference between one gray area and another, philosophy is present. It is a powerful tool in the art of persuasion and in logic, being able to turn the tides of a discussion in favor of he or she with the best understanding.

No One I Think Is In My Tree is a blog dedicated (mostly) to the examination and introduction of select philosophical topics -- and some good, classic rock, of course.

Here's an example of something one would find on this blog:

"If you want to discover a principle, doubt of anything that isn't 100% true all the time. The sensible world isn't certain, thus my senses aren't trustworthy. Anything I consider logic and true now can just be an illusion, a deceive. But, if it is indeed an illusion, there's necessarily someone who is being deceived. FlashMush

Have you ever played a flash game before? Many people who frequently use the internet have at least tried these fun little games, but I'm positive that there are still those out there who have not. Flash games are usually simple games that are browser-based (meaning you do not have to download anything to play it) and are usually free. Often, they're very short in game time, but can be unusually fun in that short period of time.

Today's blog feature, FlashMush, is a blog about flash games. It has an extensive list of interesting and fun flash games that catch my eye every time I go there; I can't leave FlashMush without having playing at least one of his recommended flash games! Often, I can get engulfed in one for quite a long time. The writer, Kingmush, has good taste if you ask me.

Life in General

Science is a vastly under-appreciated niche in the world of blogging. Many people don't find science all that interesting to begin with, and sometimes you can't really blame them -- it's hard to get into a subject like that when the people explaining won't  tell you much of what you need to know before hand. Starting from the beginning, or from an easy-to-understand area, is a concept many seem to not get.

While the blog I am featuring today, "Life in General," isn't a perfect match for those looking to jump into science without any previous understanding, it is definitely a pretty good fit for those who already have some knowledge of chemistry and physics from school or personal education.

Here's an example of something you could learn on this great blog:

"In ground state the number of electrons is equal to the number of protons giving the atom a neutral charge.
In excited charge status the atom has lost/gain electrons, this can be because of a chemical reaction or radiation.

Sodium (Na) has 11 electrons, but what happens with excited Sodium (Na+1)
As you can see the charge of Sodium is +1, that indicates that the atom has lost 1 negative charge being that an electron; so excited sodium has 10 electrons, 1 less than its ground state."

Ultimate Car Garage

Okay, so maybe I'm a bit biased towards the blogs of icycooL, but give me a break -- they're good stuff! Since today is the Friday spotlight for new but promising blogs, I think this one is just as deserving as the last. So, let me introduce to my loyal readers: Ultimate Car Garage!

Cars are beautiful machines. They are incredibly complex, and to fully understand them requires years of time and labor. It would not be fair to the automobiles to say that they can be completely comprehended in a summary; however, icycooL hopes to deliver a little bit of basic knowledge so that some readers may take the first steps into understanding.
