I highly suggest giving it at least a quick read, to determine if it can be of help (which, I assure you, it can!).

I have used SEOmoz for research into the wonderful world of SEO (aka search engine optimization), and I gotta say, I couldn't be happier. I can't say it's the best website for optimization out there, but I will say that it has helped me build a legitimately stronger version of Blogographer.

Here's an excerpt from the SEOmoz About page:
direct reflection of our ability to uphold the TAGFEE code."

I, for one, can't take a step in my home without running into something geeky. Considering I cater to a readerbase a lot like myself, I also assume that is what many of you are like. So, if you are like me on money, too, you feel as if all of this geekery is practically bankrupting you.

What can you do about it? There are thousands, if not millions of sites claiming to have "good deals" and "awesome products." When, in fact, their merchandise is at least three steps removed from geek. "An arrow to the knee" is just not that funny, and by the Nine, it should not be on a shirt.

So, let me introduce the featured site today: GeekAlerts. If you want to give geeky gifts, gadget news, or discount coupons and promotional codes for some of the most awesome online stores and services, I can promise you there are few better places to go. I mean, just check out this wicked awesome doodad I discovered on their site, called the Mosser Decorative Terrarium:

My science senses are tingling.

Apparently, that sweet piece of plant is in so much demand, that the people who HAND-CRAFTED them (yes, hand-crafted -- like a boss) have to go back and make more. So I am sure you're thinking, "Well, if it is hand-crafted and awesome, it must cost a fortune," but you should stop flappin' your lips, because it's only $26. Twenty-six. That's also my magic number, which means guess who is going to freshen up their desk?

For those of you who are a bit more fantasy than sci-fi -- and especially if you are a Lord of the Rings buff -- then you absolutely must have this: LEGO Lord of The Rings. You knew, somewhere in the back of your mind, that this existed (after all, everything awesome exists in LEGO format somewhere), but I bet you never knew where to get it.

Until now.

Be sure to also check out this great deals link, which is the Inkgrabber coupon code. Apparently, GeekAlerts is hosting some epic deals for ink cartridges, toner, etc. that you probably shouldn't miss if you don't want to have to mortgage your house next time your printer runs out of ink.

Well? What are you waiting for? Go!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-37368067601023256812012-01-11T01:00:00.000-08:002012-11-28T02:42:36.017-08:00shirtstuckedinToday's blog feature is one for the auto enthusiasts, as well as those who may not necessarily be auto enthusiasts but might enjoy checking out some (cool) cars. This particular site goes by the very odd name of shirtstuckedin, which the writer explains he came up with when, "[just] over 14 months ago I was out one night on my BMX with a mate

Genius.

Awesome and odd name aside, the site has a whole buttload of kick-ass photographs of even more kick-ass cars, from all over the place. The author, a one Casey John Dhnaram, seems to quite enjoy Japanese stuff as well, as the blog is rife with kanji and kata. Even better, he ain't a half-bad photographer!
Look at sites that are/were popular, like reddit, icanhascheezburger, and funnyjunk; all examples of places were a lot of funny stuff goes down (even if on reddit, it is often unintentional). Few things are as straight-up funny as comics are on the internet, though. VG Cats, Ctrl+Alt+Del, and Penny Arcade for the gamers out there; Explosm/Cyanide and Happiness for the rest of ya!

Smaller sites are often forgotten about on the internet, as we all know. Comics that are not as instantly successful or popular as the ones I mentioned above usually float in some sort of limbo. They are very under-appreciated, but there is one thing we can do to help out those out there who do not get enough good word solely on their work: spread the word!

This is why, today, I feature a (crudely) funny webcomicblogthing named candy for breakfast, by a very odd character named 'etsy.' Check it out here, and leave what you think in the comments below. If the feedback is largely good, I will throw her up on the Blogographer Bloglist/Blogroll, and hopefully help her out! If not, well... we all know what happens to websites that do not curry the favor of the internet.

DOOOOOOOM.

Ahem. Excuse me. Back on track, also leave your blog/website somewhere in the comments section, and I will pick the best comment in the comment's section to feature on the Bloglist/Blogroll alongside this blog and many other great sites. Remember: long does not necessarily mean good.

In the meantime, enjoy some of etsy's work from candy for breakfast:
Similar to The Mozilla Blog, Twitter Blog brings you all you need to know about the incredibly popular twitter social media service that has taken the internet by storm (almost as much as facebook!).

Naturally, trying to stay updated on the internet can be a hassle. As is the nature of technology and information, they must evolve constantly. Many people may get swept up in this thrashing river of change, but fear not; reading blogs and news sites on the subjects that interest you the most is perhaps the best way to stay in-touch.
languages. In fact, thanks to these passionate people all over the
world, Twitter is offered in 21 languages. We’ve recently introduced it
in Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Polish — and today, we launch in
Swedish.

As the number of volunteer translators grows, we’ll
explore new ways to empower users to translate and localize Twitter for
even more communities. Expect to see further improvements to the

This all despite the fact that it promotes ideas and philosophies that most non-technical people can barely grasp, like open-source software.

What can you do to improve your webertoire (web and repertoire, heh) when it comes to the huge non-profit company Mozilla? TheUniversityBlog has provided me with more than enough help on advancing through college- and university-level class and general school issues, so I recommend it highly as supplemental information.
Finding a good source for cinematic information is always a hassle on the internet; so many opinions, which to trust?! Well, SDG has it pretty down pat when it comes to his favorite subject: cinema.

Today's subject is number two on that list, and that subject is martial arts. Judo, karate, etc., all fit into this particular category, and Tom Kurz loves to write about it. He has been trained in all sorts of physical education and has had some experience himself in the world of peak physical conditioning.

Here is a bit about Tom Kurz:

"Before coming to the U.S.A., I studied physical education at AWF
(University School of Physical Education) in Warsaw, one of the top East
European institutions that prepare coaches, instructors, teachers of
physical education, and rehabilitation specialists.

I chose to study teaching p.e. and sports because I knew some peak
performers (not necessarily in competitive sports), had some peak
performance experiences myself, and also was interested in the most
effective ways of acquiring physical skills.

While still a student, I was appointed an assistant coach of the
students’ judo team. As a part of the studies’ requirements, I competed
(at the intramural level) in several sports, including swimming,
gymnastics, and track and field events. This gave me an understanding of
the practical application of the general principles of theory and
methodology of sports and physical education."

Today's subject is about "intermittent fasting and all things related," on the blog Leangains. Some of you may have heard about Leangains before, whether it be while casually browsing the internet or even because you were trying to improve your dieting or training routines. Many of you, however, have probably not heard of it, and hopefully by the end of this post you will at least give it a visit. ;D

Leangains is written by Martin Berkhan, who is a magazine writer, nutritional consultant, and personal trainer. Berkhan seems to take his own ideas, and mix them in with ideas from other realms of thought and subjects to make a more well-rounded routine for his readers. One example is economics and the sunk cost fallacy:

"The sunk cost fallacy is
a well-known concept in behavioral economics. Briefly summarized, the
more you spend on something, the less you’re willing to let it go. The
resource invested can be money, time, mental or emotional energy - it's
all the same.

This unwillingness to let go will often lead to continued investments,
not rarely in spite of negative effects. Since you've already put your
money, time, or energy into it, so you simply keep pouring it on -
you're throwing good money after bad, as the saying goes.

Why? You might be thinking that the payoff is just around the corner. If
you give up now, all that time and energy will have gone to waste. So
you cling on to this sinking ship, as it drags you further into the
void."

Berkhan goes on to explain in another post how he, himself, fell for this sunk cost fallacy in fitness, as well, continually trying to make an old diet work that simply did not produce results. He had spent so much time and effort on it, though, that he felt like he could not just give up on it without wasting all of that time and effort; however, all he did was pour more of his life into it without results.

However, the one big problem I have with his blog is the difficulty of reading, as he tries to use more complicated phrases to give the material merit. Instead of saying the word "often," in that excerpt above, he uses "not rarely," which, in context, makes the sentence many times more difficult despite a lack of improvement. If you can look past that, though, Leangains is an excellent blog.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-54010413189458412362011-12-26T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-26T01:13:28.203-08:00Christmas Break, and Fitness Week on BlogographerChristmas Break

Welcome back, blogographers. I hope you all had a very merry Christmas (or various other holidays, if that is what you celebrated over the break), and that your New Year's is happy. Over these holidays, I am sure all of your ate a good, large meal or two, involving perhaps roast, ham, turkey, sweet potatoes, biscuits, mashed potatos, gravy, and more. Surely many of us will put on a few pounds!

Fitness Week

So how are we going to work this weight off? Well, by exercise and fitness, of course! This week on Blogographer is going to be Fitness Week, and we will be featuring three fitness blogs on Wednesday the 28th, Friday the 30th, and Monday on the second of January.

The first will be the ever-popular Leangains, followed by Tom Kurz's Weblog, and finally Beast Skills. Some of you may recognize Beast Skills from a previous post I made on Blogographer. I am featuring it again as a "Revisted" post, to cap off the Fitness Week. Enjoy!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-22575816237137090982011-12-21T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-22T01:18:05.836-08:00Chemistry for All: RevisitedWell, would you look at the time -- time for another Revisited post! Everybody, load up into our blogging time machine, and let us travel into the past to revisit those worthy blogs that deserve another mention. Then, we will come back to our own time, and see how they are now. We will even go into the future, to predict how they will turn out.
The Revisited feature today is all about Chemistry for All, which actually was not "Chemistry for All" back when I reviewed it here on Blogographer. Way back in the yesteryears of July 2011, this particular blog went by the name "Life in General," and though the name has changed, the look and feel have not. After all, why fix something that is not broken, right?

Here is an excerpt from the original post about this blog, on Blogographer:

"While the blog I am featuring today, "Life in General," isn't a perfect
match for those looking to jump into science without any previous
understanding, it is definitely a pretty good fit for those who already
have some knowledge of chemistry and physics from school or personal
education."

It is pretty easy to see how the blog has evolved in terms of simplicity from when I last reviewed it. Where the posts were actually a bit difficult to understand at times without some sort of background in natural sciences, there is now easy-to-understand explanations and layman's terms to aid in the process of learning. Looking into the future, I foresee a site that will be a great study tool for any student, or even for those who wish to learn for fun.

Check it out, once more, at Chemistry for All!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-4542822475685019622011-12-16T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-18T23:49:25.741-08:00You Want, You LoseUh-oh, watch out, blogographers: today's feature will be self-promoting! Ooooh nooo!

That aside, we can start in on the blog itself. Today's blog feature is on You Want, You Lose, which is a blog that I have been running by myself for some time now. In all fairness and to discredit those who might call me biased since it is my own blog, I will also point of those facets about it I did not enjoy, as well.

First things first: the content is awesome. If you ask me, no matter who you are, you can appreciate the value that the content has. Even if you never plan to buy anything listed on there (I certainly have not, out of financial security), it is still quite fun to peruse. The items are endlessly incredible.

On the other hand, the blog's look itself could use a bit of work. The layout and background are actually some of the default styles, which need to be updated to be personalized to their style of the blog. I would consider the banner a nice, customizing touch that is on the right track to getting it right.

The writing is usually more wild than that which I write here on Blogographer (though we all know my posts are not exempt entirely from bouts of eccentricity), but that is because the content is about a wilder subject. There is more room for silliness, in my opinion.

If you want to see it for yourself, you can visit at You Want, You Lose. Be sure to let me know you visited in a comment!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-11636718015172249312011-12-14T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-15T03:27:11.553-08:00Hi.Def.WallsI think that I should start off this post with a fair disclaimer: I am good friends with the writer of this blog, and the blog is fairly new. However, do not let you think that I am trying to fool you into visiting his blog; everything I say here is what I really think about the blog myself, as a blog reviewer and writer.

So, without further disclaiming humdrum, I present to you: Hi.Def.Walls!

First off, if you take a look at the URL on that link, you may have an aneurism trying to take the whole thing in! That is largely my fault, as when suggesting URLs, I noticed nearly all of them were taken. In an attempt to make the URL business easy and practical, I suggest that behemoth, and it worked.

That is not the only thing that worked for this blog; in fact, it is just one of many great features this blog possesses. The blog's background is quite eye-catching, and shows off taste in wallpapers. The format of the posts and blog are both quite simple, as well. There is very little fluff to distract the reader from the big goal: the perfect wallpaper(s).

I think that my favorite is perhaps the Tuesday posts. How can you beat out the gorgeous gals? If you want to see more wallpapers and categories (or just peruse the hottest women the internet has to offer), check out Hi.Def.Walls.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-8433248619878856312011-12-12T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-12T04:19:23.044-08:00DrunkethicsHere is a post for you today, blogographers, of a blog that, in theory, matches that category of "Whatever I Want;" my ever-despised "random" group of blogs that seem to plague the internet. Naturally, I should have passed right over Drunkethics, since it seemed to have no truly specific purpose, but then I caught a glimpse of a chick in some chain-and-plate armor.

Workin' the chainmail!

Boy, do I have to say, that caught my attention.

It is not every day that you run across a genuine, homebrewed armor crafter. It is the internet, and there are people just like that out there, I know; however, I do not often run into them, especially since I tend to stick to my spheres of interest on this big, wide web. Roaming away from my internet comfort zone is... well, it's uncomfortable.

I am definitely not uncomfortable on Drunkethics, though. It is easy to fit right in with the posts, as the blogger seems to have a homey, cozy feel to his writing. While still retaining an air of professionalism and class, he keeps it on a friendly level, with writing more likely to be seen between two best friends in an e-mail rather than on a blog.

He even has some awesome armor sets in the making! His models seem to be a man, and a woman (the author and his girlfriend, perhaps?) with the chain-and-plate armor on, showing off his improvements as compared to the last post. I do not think armor has ever been so interesting to me, haha.

Drunkethics gets the Blogographer Seal of Approval!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-44293522624464302902011-12-09T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-09T22:57:51.841-08:00ThisIsWhyImBrokeHey there, blogographers. I have a special treat here today that, while perhaps not entirely meeting the exact criteria one may have for being a "blog," is still a very cool site with a vague blog structure.

This particular site is ThisIsWhyImBroke [sic], which is built up around the idea of displaying awesome things that the authors run across on the internet, whether it cost pennies or dozens of G's (the money kind of G, of course). While there are many practical purchase options on the "blog," it still features quite a few wacky items for ridiculous prices.

Ya know. In case you happened to be fabulously wealthy, of course. ;P

Going to their "About Us" page on the site has the following self-description for ThisIsWhyImBroke:

"ThisIsWhyImBroke is a free online magazine/blog run by a few geeky
ladies and gentlemen who partake in way too much internet shopping. As
such, our staff has a wide array of cool, fun, useful, and unique
products that we showcase on our website for your consideration.

Our philosophy is simple: we only want to display cool things you can
buy on the web. We are not interested in spamming products at you, nor
are we interested in compromising the integrity of this site. When you
visit ThisIsWhyImBroke, you’ll always see unique products that our staff
was so fond of we felt it needed to be shared with you the viewer. Many
items listed on this site do return a small commission for product
referral, however this is not the sole motivation for posting certain
items. Our staff regularly posts products that we receive absolutely no
compensation for."

So, keep in mind that not all of the items they post about are solely for the altruistic purpose of great taste and excellent prices -- they do make a bit of buck on the side. This is no problem for me, though, because the amount of awesome products they feature is phenomenal. I'm surprised I have anything left in my bank account, to be honest!

Here's a few particularly bitchin' items from the site to leave you with today. Enjoy!

That is a pretty bold statement for any sort of business to make, especially so for a photography studio. Every teenager and his/her uncle is a "photographer," it would seem, and you know what? That is most certainly fine by me. If you want to wield a camera and say you like to take pictures, more power to you. Who am I to stifle the artistic determination of anybody?

Then there are those that might consider themselves professional photographers by meeting the same requirements as I listed above. Here the typical checklist for becoming a professional photographer these days:

1. A Nikon camera

And you're done, it would seem. If only a cursory knowledge of computers made me a professional IT guy! Now that would be something, eh? Alas, the owning of equipment does not usually qualify one for professional work in that subject.

Now that I have let loose that rant, I would like to say that this Carver PhotoCinema is not exactly bad. After all, I don't quite know if I am really qualified myself to judge the works of photographers. Maybe I am missing some key detail that makes the photography excellent, professional work?

Whatever it is, exactly, I would feel safe guessing this "business" is a kid with a camera who figures he can make a few extra bucks snapping photos and turning them black and white for effect. If that floats your boat, so be it. Just don't come to me if you are disappointed in the end.

As for the actual content of the blog and the layout, I found it to be a somewhat trite and usual. Plain gray-on-gray-on-gray is not always a good choice, though I feel like I am being a bit picky here when I point this out. All-in-all, the blog is not that bad. I just think the photography could use a bit of work.

Either way, there are my thoughts on Carver PhotoCinema.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-56344216199040605102011-12-05T01:00:00.000-08:002011-12-05T01:36:29.406-08:00AniCompendiumAnimals. The subject of so much controversy, from the personal lives of everyday people to the complicated ones of celebrities. Some people love their pets so much, you might wonder just how far they would go for them (and, if it came down to you or them, which would that person save?). At any rate, there is no shortage of discussion for both pet-lovers and haters, or even those floating around in the middle.

Along with all of this conversation (and perhaps, because of it), many misconceptions arise about how to take care of each pet. It is easy for these truth-lacking tips to proliferate as so many people look for answers to their problems, but we must be careful to take out those which are definitely true and backed by a professional medical or related opinion.

Here's an example of such misconceptions:

"As a simple example, we used to leave some cat food at the backdoor of
our house for stray cats, when I was a kid I remember wanting to put
some milk there for them not knowing that 9 cases out of 10 it would be
harmful for them, luckily someone I knew then had some basic knowledge
of such things and stopped me from possibly causing harm to the cats,
harmful ignorance is still in the end, harmful." -AniCompendium

So why don't you get some reliable information? While, of course, you should always check with a certified professional about these sorts of things, there are good sites out there like AniCompendium with useful information to take into consideration, and to use as prompts to question specialists with.

If you have a pet, or plan to get one soon, I suggest you look into AniCompendium; if not for your own ease of mind, then for the health and safety of your (perhaps soon-to-be) pet. The information there could save you a lot of time, money, and even hassle. Always better to be prepared, ya know.
Yeah, I bet you guys had forgotten about the Revisited series, huh? Letting it slowly sink away into the abyss of the post archives... Well, perhaps it's high time we revisited the Revisited series! Hopefully, if all goes as planned, you guys will be seeing a lot more of the Revisited series again, especially since the post number has now hit three digits and I am closing in on 400 followers! Thanks to you guys; I could not have done it without you! Well, maybe I could have. The world will never know...
Fret not, though, young addict: Videuphoria will continue to intravenously pump video content into your bloodstream, so that you never have to go without!

So, without any further ado (and so that maybe you won't bite my finger off in your weird little videuphoric withdrawals), I present to you a video from the Videuphoria site itself!
Well, there it is, folks. This post officially marks the one-hundredth blog post on Blogographer. I had 99 posts, but a hundredth wasn't one of them! Now, that's been changed. Post count will be in the triple digits from this point forward, an odd but proud thing to see.

What a long, strange trip it's been, but I could not have done it without you guys. Considering I received almost four followers per post up to this point, I think I would consider Blogographer a raging success. It may not be some Gawker Media bigshot, but I am glad to say that I feel accomplished.
Truer words about the relation of the Western world with Japan have never been spoken. After many centuries of isolationism, preferring the Japanese culture so delicately cultivated by shoguns and emperors, samurai and daimyo, relations and eventually trade with the country opened up to the rest of humanity with the mission of the United States to Japan. Since then, it has been an ongoing exchange of culture that has inundated the market with goods from both countries.

As Japan gained a lot of political and economic structure from the United States, especially following World War II and defeat by the U.S.-involved Allies, the U.S. has also gained quite a bit in the way of culture. From anime to manga, Pocky to sushi, many of the wealthy American staples come directly from Japan. So why is there still a stigma to being in love with Japanese culture?

The Weeaboo blog has taken the eponymous pejorative, and turned it into a boon, a label that condones happily this sort of behavior, much as similar groups like the "brights" of New Atheism fame or their influencing predecessor "gays" of homosexual fame have done. Now, with more gusto and power thanks to sites like The Weeaboo, the Japanese culture is retaking the American world by storm!

Here's a snippet of one post about the capital city of Tokyo, in Japan:

"Yesterday, at an award ceremony at the Tobu Hotel Levant Tokyo, the
Guinness World Records officially recognized the Tokyo Sky Tree as the
tallest free-standing tower in the world.

Surpassing the previous record holder, the 600-meter Can[t]on Tower in
China’s Guangzhou, the Tokyo Sky Tree reached it’s final height of 634
meters back in March of this year.

“One of the purposes of the construction of the tower is to let the
world know about Japanese culture and technology, as well as the allure
of this area of Tokyo,” said Michiaki Suzuki, president of Tobu Tower Sky Tree Company.

Suzuki told reporters after accepting the certificate confirming the
Sky Tree as the new record holder, “This recognition gives us great
strength as we strive to meet that goal."

Tokyo's Sky Tree, which was once known as New Tokyo Tower, actually combines three businesses in one: broadcast, restaurant, and observation tower. The observation tower is currently under construction in Sumida, Tokyo, but has been completed enough to be the officially tallest free-standing tower in the Guinness World Records archives.
For the sake of a thorough site review (and for being a mild fan of Japan, myself), I will go through each section of the blog to give a general idea about its functions, as well as to critique how well it adds up to my expectations.
That's it for the sections of the site, and hopefully you can walk away from this review not feeling entirely like you wasted your time with this gargantuan post (though, trust me, it was worth it!). Perhaps even in the future, when you sit down and tell yourself, "I could use some Japanese stuff right now," you'll be well-equipped to nerd out on The Weeaboo.
After all, music is perhaps the most popular form of modern artistic expression in the world. Naturally, the tides of the internet follow the waves of interest, and as such music is a hugely popular internet item. Blogs ride the popular items, too.

With this inundation of music blogs, you may see a lot of bad ones. A good music blog seems out of grasp, impossible; and yet, we have it here at Self-Medicate, a self-evidently incredible blog. Looking at the layout alone is just beautiful, meshing with music so well. The music that is posted is top-quality. Here's a list of some songs (in their posts) you can find over at Self-Medicate.
Ever since I was young, I always felt more expressive in the literary arts than the visual ones. While I have a healthy respect for all art forms, I feel a kinship to writing that I have never felt with another form of artistic expression. Perhaps this is because of my passion for reading as well, considering the two go hand-in-hand.

At any rate, out of my deep respect for the power of writing, I have chosen today's feature blog, Wordsmith. According to the writer on his About page for the blog, "I am a wordsmith. I need to practise my writing, so I am attempting to
write a short story every day for a year. Some will be bad, some will be
good, all will be written in a rush as I count down to a daily
deadline."

While I have encountered many blogs of similar dedication, most have been with fairly uninteresting layouts or overcrowded with information irrelevant to the topic. Some may find either of these more suitable to their tastes, but as for my own, I believe the writer at Wordsmith employs the wiser of the option choices for his site. It is incredibly easy to navigate and find what you want, which are the individual story tidbits.

Here is a sample of one of the stories on Wordsmith, titled "Io,":

"There it was again. That banging sound. Right above his bed. Thaddeus sighed. No sleep again, then.

He’d become accustomed to the rhythmic sounds of the machinery.
Everyone had to, otherwise madness would soon set in. The hiss of the
gasses escaping the vents, the roar of the engines, they were all
standard sounds. This banging, however, wasn’t.

Thaddeus heaved his immense frame out of the sleeping pod. Being
careful not to wake his fellow workers, he moved quietly to the locker
room. He stared into the mirror, taking note of the dark rings around
his eyes and the shock of thick unkempt hair on his head and chin.
Thaddeus moved away from the mirror and stared out of the grimy window
next to it. As always, all he could see were clouds of yellow and orange
smoke. He sighed. It wasn’t supposed to be like this.

Fantastic opportunities, they’d said. See the solar system, they’d said. They said nothing about banging noises, though."

The writer displays here one of the defining unique qualities of literary style present in that of professionals and the well-written: the ability to use what most would consider exotic words, without inundating the prose with excessively complicated words. An admirable trait in an author, if you ask me.

Hey there, blogographers! I have come to wish you a Merry Turkeyday, for one and for all! Let your tables be overflowing with turkey meat drizzled in gravy, or mashed potatoes with all the right seasonings. Stuffing cooked with just the right amount of fluffiness; delicious sweet potatoes covered in marshmellows, and baked. Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Anyhow, I'd love it for you guys to leave me a comment on this post when you are done with the festivities of the day to tell me how your Turkeyday went! What did you do, where did you go? What delicious foods did you have? I'd love to hear the variety of edible goodness!

For those of you not from the United States (because we know you Canadians do it on a different day for Newfoundland!), you can just tell us if you heard anything about Thanksgiving in your own country, and what did you do today? From the normal to the insanely fun, let us know how your country sees Thanksgiving!
Merry Turkeyday!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4100147131764128869.post-14076168155822014212011-11-23T01:00:00.000-08:002011-11-25T01:45:05.548-08:00The Wise SlothThe United States of America has always been a country of the most heated contention, beginning even before the country's inception in 1776. The British, and subsequently the allies of England, fought back the revolutionary tides of the American colonists at its roots and through the years leading up to the formation of the United States. Without missing a beat, the U.S. is embroiled in just about every global problem to arise during the current and previous presidential administrations. Less cautious Americans might call this a classic example of poking one's nose where it does not belong.

Naturally, the American government receives contemptuous responses from all walks of life, and from all over the world. The most vociferous of these responses belong to the Americans themselves, most of whom have become disenchanted with their government as of late. Many of the new parties gaining momentum in the country are those parties which address the "uselessness" of the current administration. Amidst economical collapse, a corrupt and exceedingly wealthy upper class with a vice grip on politics, and the type of social revolution not seen since the 1960s in the U.S., new parties are quickly gaining ground.

An example of one such opponent to the current system of government and politics is today's blog feature: The Wise Sloth. Though the site lacks a thorough About page (see the link to understand what I mean), I had trouble knowing what it was exactly at first. It becomes more clear after reading a few of the posts he makes (the majority of which, at least recently, are political comics), but he could definitely use a purposeful About page, in my opinion.

As for the style, there's something to be said for simplicity. These days, the minimalist design is all the rave, and for a good reason: cluttering something with fancy baubles does not intrinsically make it better, and in fact can have the opposite effect on many sites. I give kudos to the author for sticking to a simpler layout. I do, however, dislike that his comics, which are really quite long, are not shrunk to an appropriate size to allow for easier browsing of posts. With only a few front-page posts at a time on his blog, it is still a huge and laborious page.

At any rate, his content is definitely good. It brings up a good many issues in the current political structure of the United States, and offers suggestions for fixing the problems. While I may not entirely agree with his opinion, and find many of his statements to be hyperbole, the author raises excellent questions. If you have any interest in the country, then The Wise Sloth is definitely a blog to bookmark.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
