GeekAlerts -- Geeky Gifts and Promotional Discount Codes!

Of course, the best part of Blogographer is the geekery -- ya know, being all about memes and gadgets. I, for one, can't take a step in my home without running into something geeky. Considering I cater to a readerbase a lot like myself, I also assume that is what many of you are like. So, if you are like me on money, too, you feel as if all of this geekery is practically bankrupting you.

What can you do about it? There are thousands, if not millions of sites claiming to have "good deals" and "awesome products." When, in fact, their merchandise is at least three steps removed from geek. "An arrow to the knee" is just not that funny, and by the Nine, it should not be on a shirt.

So, let me introduce the featured site today: GeekAlerts. If you want to give geeky gifts, gadget news, or discount coupons and promotional codes for some of the most awesome online stores and services, I can promise you there are few better places to go. I mean, just check out this wicked awesome doodad I discovered on their site, called the Mosser Decorative Terrarium:

My science senses are tingling.

Apparently, that sweet piece of plant is in so much demand, that the people who HAND-CRAFTED them (yes, hand-crafted -- like a boss) have to go back and make more. So I am sure you're thinking, "Well, if it is hand-crafted and awesome, it must cost a fortune," but you should stop flappin' your lips, because it's only $26. Twenty-six. That's also my magic number, which means guess who is going to freshen up their desk?

Nostalgic Video Games

Today's feature on Blogographer is another video game blog (yes, another), but it's not just any ol' video game blog. The internet is inundated with blogs about gamers and gaming news, though every once in a while you come across an older games blog.

The one I've stumbled upon goes by the name of Nostalgic Video Games, a rather simple blog name. From what I can see, it's written by a one D_Homes (though older posts are attributed to 'Kryptic' whom I assume is the same person), who isn't a half-bad writer in my opinion.

Geekologie: Revisited

I'm beginning to think that this blog might need to be renamed to something along the times of "Techblogographer," considering the frequency with which I feature technology and tech-related blogs! However, I think we can all appreciate a good tech blog, because after all, aren't we all on computers or phones and whatnot right now? :P

So, today I will be revisiting the hilarious blog Geekologie, which isn't exactly a tech blog, but it is a geek blog which features tons of gizmos and gadgets. There's also the occasional gorgeous fashion model for the purpose of... well, why not?! This blog was featured on Blogographer quite a long time ago, and it's time it's brought up again.

Here's a current sample from the blog's post about Harry Potter as an anime:

"Is this what Harry Potter would look like as anime? Yes. Even if it isn't let's just say it is because I've only written three lines about it and I'm already tired of arguing about it. So yeah, moving on. Ninja turtles: who's your favorite one? I like the one with the tits in the yellow jumpsuit. What's her name? "Donatello." Yes, her."

 Geek out at Geekologie.

Geekologie

I think that at this point in history, the majority of teenager and young adult Americans online would classify themselves as 'geeks' or 'nerds' in some respect. That's good news for Geekologie, which is a blog dedicated to -- you guessed it -- geeky stuff.

"Gadgets, Gizmos, and Awesome," are their main topics, as they so confidently declare on their site's header. They aren't kidding about the 'awesome', either, with posts on such topics as real life Mario Kart to crazy predictions of planets four times the size of Jupiter in our solar system (now with pseudo-scientific evidence!) . Though the 'gadgets and gizmos' part is scarce, the writers at Geekologie do cover a wide variety of other topics, most of them silly.

Here's a bit from the blog about a replica Grayskull Castle made of snow:

"This is a Castle Grayskull igloo built in Brooklyn, NY by artist Kilroy III and some of his friends. As you can see, it's pretty f***ing awesome. Well, provided you can get past how it looks like it was designed to fit 400 of Frosty's wieners in its mouth. Other than that though, totally sweet."

However good the blog, though, it does have one problem: you can't even find out who the writer is for any particular post. Unless I'm missing something, these writers are as elusive as an attractive woman who isn't insane. We'll just have to live with that, though it really is a shame that the readers can't identify with any specific writer.

Regardless, Geekologie is a surprisingly good read, and even if it doesn't quite fit your tastes in writing, you should at least give it a look. So, geek out with your deek out at Geekologie!

Oh man, I'm never gonna live that one down.
